Three (Surprising) Things You HAVEN’T Prepped for Your Family Photo Session
So, you’ve finally booked that long-awaited family photo session with me! Together, we have coordinated outfits, picked a picturesque location and mentally prepared the kids (and maybe even yourself) for our big day. But what about the photo session prep? Here are a few things you don’t want to forget!
But hold on just a second! Before you say cheese (not really, I won’t make you do that), there are a few unexpected photo session prep steps you might have overlooked.
Photo Session Prep Table of Contents
1. Groomed Nails
I’m not suggesting you schedule a full-on manicure session before your photo shoot (though, by all means, treat yourself if you want to!). However, taking a few minutes to ensure everyone’s nails are clean and trimmed can elevate the overall look of your photos. Think about it: those close-up shots where everyone’s hands are intertwined or resting on shoulders can easily be marred by unkempt nails. It’s a small detail, but one that can make a big impact on the final result. Plus, groomed nails show attention to detail and can add a touch of polish to your family’s appearance.
2. No Hangry Faces
We’ve all been there – you’re running late, trying to wrangle the kids into their photo-ready attire, and you realize no one has eaten since breakfast. Cue the meltdowns and grumbling stomachs. While it might seem counterintuitive to encourage everyone to chow down before a photoshoot, trust me on this one. A hungry family is not a happy family. I suggest making sure everyone has had a nutritious snack or meal to keep energy levels (and moods) in check.
3. Say No to Wrinkle Woes
Nothing can detract from a fabulous outfit like creased fabric, and unfortunately, wrinkles have a way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. Take the extra time to steam or iron your clothes before our session.
