She Said YES!!

A little while back, my youngest brother took me to lunch and asked if I would be willing to photograph his proposal to his girlfriend. Ummmmmm, YES! I was ecstatic! And THEN he told me that he was surprising his sweet girlfriend with a weekend trip to Charlotte – a town they are interested in moving to at some point. They had been there a year ago and fell in love with the city.

He wanted to propose there!!!! (Cue my excitement level, times ten.)

So I flew to Charlotte the night before they arrived, armed with a black and white grainy Google map photo of the location Grant had remembered as being perfect – Romare Bearden Park. And he was right!!! All the details fell into place – we had to work out timing, exact location, etc all without his girlfriend getting suspicious. I was so nervous that I would spoil the surprise I had wore a crazy blonde wig (please see bottom image) so that I could hide in the bushes and not be seen.

It came together perfectly. He proposed in the heart of Charlotte – with the city skyline as a beautiful backdrop. With a little luck, an interesting audience watching me (please ask me about this in person), and quite a few nerves…… I was able to capture the moment for them. And what a moment!!!! Alex immediately said YES. She was completely shocked that I was there. The wig made it extra funny (scroll to the bottom to see)! I honestly don’t think I have ever witnessed two happier people. I am so incredibly happy for them!
