Pregnancy comes with approximately nine million decisions. Strollers. Car seats. Nursery colors. And somehow, everyone has very strong opinions about all of them.
Your maternity photos shouldn’t feel like one more thing to research. As an OKC maternity photographer, my job is to help with the decisions so you can enjoy the session.
Both indoor and outdoor maternity sessions can be absolutely beautiful. The right choice depends on the look you love and what feels most comfortable.
Outdoor maternity photos give us beautiful Oklahoma scenery and plenty of space. They’re a great option if you love greenery, architecture, or a more natural setting.
Then there’s Oklahoma weather.
We all know she likes to keep things interesting.
Heat, cold, wind, and sudden weather changes can make outdoor sessions less predictable. That matters even more when you’re several months pregnant.
An indoor studio maternity session takes weather completely out of the equation. No battling wind, extreme temperatures, or a long walk from the car.
Studio sessions also give us consistent lighting and a clean, polished setting. They’re simple, comfortable, and incredibly beautiful. Curated studio options are available for a small additional fee.
If you prefer outdoor locations, I have a detailed location guide that will point you in the right direction for your perfect location. Read it here.

Timing matters, but you don’t have to memorize another pregnancy timeline.
For most maternity sessions, I recommend photographing between 28 and 34 weeks. Your bump is beautifully defined, while we still have some room before your due date.
First pregnancies and later pregnancies can look different. Multiples can change the ideal timing, too.
I wrote an entire guide about when to take maternity pictures if you want the details. It walks you through the timing and how to choose your session date.
Once you’re ready, contact me and we’ll choose a date together.
This is usually one of the first questions clients ask.
Start with clothing that lets us see your bump instead of hiding it. Pieces that fit closer around your belly photograph beautifully and clearly show this stage of pregnancy.
Comfort matters, too. If you’re uncomfortable in an outfit, it can limit how easily you move during your session.
You also won’t be left staring at your closet alone. My clients receive access to an online styling service to help make outfit planning easier.
We can think through the entire look before photo day arrives. That includes what photographs well and what works with your chosen location.

You can officially cross this one off your list.
You don’t need to study maternity poses on Pinterest. You don’t need to practice where your hands should go in the mirror.
That’s my job.
As your OKC maternity photographer, I have more than a decade of photography experience, and I’ll guide you throughout your session. I’ll help with your hands, posture, angles, movement, and the tiny adjustments that make a difference.
That guidance becomes especially important during maternity photos. Your body feels different, your balance can feel different, and some positions simply aren’t comfortable.
We work with how you feel that day. Beautiful photographs should never require you to spend an hour feeling miserable.

Your maternity session can focus entirely on you, or it can include your family.
There isn’t one correct answer.
Some mothers want portraits that celebrate their pregnancy and changing body. Others want their partner, older children, or the whole family included.
We can also create a mix. You can have photographs of yourself and portraits with the people waiting for this baby. If you already have children, those sibling photographs can become especially meaningful. They document what your family looked like right before everything changed again.
As your OKC maternity photographer, this is another decision I can help you make before the session. We’ll talk about who you want included and what matters most. Then I can plan the session around those priorities.

Your hands naturally appear near your belly throughout a maternity session. If having your nails done makes you feel polished, schedule that beforehand. It doesn’t need to be anything complicated. Neat nails and a favorite ring or bracelet work beautifully.
Think about undergarments when choosing your maternity outfit, too. You want pieces that work comfortably underneath your clothing. Try everything on before photo day and move around in it. Sitting, walking, and raising your arms can tell you a lot.
Most importantly, don’t turn preparation into another giant project. My job is to guide you through what actually matters. You have enough happening already. Photography should be one of the easier things on your list.

A maternity session documents a very specific part of your family’s life. You’re waiting, preparing, and trying to imagine someone you haven’t met yet. Then the baby arrives, and suddenly there are a whole lot more milestones worth photographing.
That’s one reason my Luxe Membership can work so well for expecting families. The membership fee is $500 and includes two to four regular sessions over 15 months. You can mix and match session types based on what your family needs. Your maternity session can be the first one.
From there, you have 15 months to choose the other sessions you want. That could mean documenting your family as your baby grows. You aren’t committing to one specific milestone schedule. You have room to choose what matters most to your family.
Luxe members don’t pay regular session fees during their membership period. They also receive priority booking and $100 off collection purchases. Limited Edition Mini Sessions are discounted $75 for members. Digital files, prints, and products are purchased separately.
For a growing family, I love that the planning is already handled. You don’t have to remember to start searching for a photographer again. You already know who to call. We can keep documenting your family through those first months together.
You don’t need to arrive at your maternity session with everything figured out. You don’t need to know the best studio, the perfect dress, or your most flattering pose. Those are all things I can help you work through. That guidance is part of the experience.
You bring yourself, your family if you want them included, and that very important baby bump. I’ll help with the location, preparation, styling, and posing. We’ll create polished photographs without turning photo day into another job. That’s the whole point.
If you’re looking for an OKC maternity photographer, I’d love to help you plan a session that works for you. We can talk about indoor versus outdoor locations, timing, wardrobe, and whether Luxe makes sense for your family.
